Safa is a member of ClearBridge's Global Value Equity investment team and co-manages global and international strategies. In addition to portfolio management, Safa is responsible for covering the health care sector for our international and global portfolios. He has 29 years of investment industry experience.

Safa joined ClearBridge from predecessor firm Global Currents Investment Management, which was founded in 2008 by a group of portfolio managers from Brandywine Global Investment Management. Prior to joining Global Currents, he had been a portfolio manager with Brandywine Global for three years. Previously he was with Goldman Sachs Asset Management as a Senior Portfolio Manager for Global and International products, Virginia Retirement System as Director of International Investments and Portfolio Manager for the U.S. Mid Cap Growth portfolio, CalPERS as an Investment Officer and Portfolio Manager, the State of California as an Auditor, Safa R. Muhtaseb Real Estate Investments as the Principal and Broker, and Al-Othman & Al-Muhtaseb Trading Co. as an Investment Officer.

Safa earned an MBA in Finance from the University of Tennessee and a BS in Business Administration from Old Dominion University. He is a member of the CFA Institute.
